LED PROGRAMME PARTNER
Eurecna, a leading Italian economic development
consultancy, has been appointed by the European Union (EU) to assist
the Limpopo Department of Local Government & Housing (DLGH)
to implementthe EU-funded Limpopo Local Economic Development (LED)
Programme.In order to support DLGH, Eurecna has set up a Project
Management Unit, consisting of 15 professional experts and support
staff, with headquarters in Limpopo's capital city, Polokwane, and
offices in each of the province's five districts.
Eurecna is the "know-how transfer agency" of CNA Veneto,
a major federation of small and craft enterprises (SMEs) in north
east Italy. CNA operates a network of more than 1 000 SME Support
Centres throughout Italy, delivering a wide range of services to
its members.The region of Veneto has been transformed from one of
the poorest areas in Italy into a dynamic, rapidly growing region.
Today, Veneto is a world leader in the manufacture of fashion clothes,
footwear, wood furniture, plastic products and agricultural equipment,
as well as a national leader in agri-food, light mechanics, white
goods and some construction materials.
This impressive growth has been driven by the SME sector, with CNA
Veneto playing a major role in the regional development process.A
feature of Veneto's growth is a highly efficient system of SME financing.
CNA was among the pioneers in this field and today runs 19 guarantee
funds at sub-regional level and three regional financial agencies
(non-banking lending institutions). Being a member of the National
Council of Economy and Labour, CNA takes an active part in policy-making
and is a counterpart of the Italian and regional governments in
the design and implementation of legislation, regulations and support
measures promoting SME development.
As a social partner, CNA is also regularly involved in social dialogue
forums and labour market instruments.Eurecna focuses on SME development
policies and support schemes, management consulting, enterprise
restructuring, regional and local development planning, and private
sector development projects.Its main clients are industrial enterprises,
and national and international institutions which support the development
of them private business sector.
After 12 years of working on different assignments in central and
eastern Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America, Eurecna
is expanding its network and presence by setting up a growing number
of sister companies in countries where it is most active.
Establishing local organisations helps Eurecna to empower local
consultants to develop and deliver a wide range of business and
