EURECNA

THE LIMPOPO LED PROGRAMME PARTNER

Eurecna, a leading Italian economic development consultancy, has been appointed by the European Union (EU) to assist the Limpopo Department of Local Government & Housing (DLGH) to implementthe EU-funded Limpopo Local Economic Development (LED) Programme. In order to support DLGH, Eurecna has set up a Project Management Unit, consisting of 15 professional experts and support staff, with headquarters in Limpopo's capital city, Polokwane, and offices in each of the province's five districts.

Eurecna is the "know-how transfer agency" of CNA Veneto, a major federation of small and craft enterprises (SMEs) in north east Italy. CNA operates a network of more than 1 000 SME Support Centres throughout Italy, delivering a wide range of services to its members. The region of Veneto has been transformed from one of the poorest areas in Italy into a dynamic, rapidly growing region. Today, Veneto is a world leader in the manufacture of fashion clothes, footwear, wood furniture, plastic products and agricultural equipment, as well as a national leader in agri-food, light mechanics, white goods and some construction materials.

This impressive growth has been driven by the SME sector, with CNA Veneto playing a major role in the regional development process.A feature of Veneto's growth is a highly efficient system of SME financing. CNA was among the pioneers in this field and today runs 19 guarantee funds at sub-regional level and three regional financial agencies (non-banking lending institutions). Being a member of the National Council of Economy and Labour, CNA takes an active part in policy-making and is a counterpart of the Italian and regional governments in the design and implementation of legislation, regulations and support measures promoting SME development.

As a social partner, CNA is also regularly involved in social dialogue forums and labour market instruments.Eurecna focuses on SME development policies and support schemes, management consulting, enterprise restructuring, regional and local development planning, and private sector development projects. Its main clients are industrial enterprises, and national and international institutions which support the development of them private business sector.
After 12 years of working on different assignments in central and eastern Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America, Eurecna is expanding its network and presence by setting up a growing number of sister companies in countries where it is most active.

Establishing local organisations helps Eurecna to empower local consultants to develop and deliver a wide range of business and economic development services.
